JUNE UPDATES
IT’S JUNE
The jam I’m in isn’t quite over yet but when it is you can probably expect that I’ll be coming back here. So, why am I making an update? Well, there’s been a few decisions I had to make in terms for Summer Sucks.
I had a very good long hard thought about it as well. I’ve decided that I am going to change engines for the game, use one that I’ve had far more experience in rather than using an engine for more technical games. Those who know me would know that engine I’m talking about is 2K3. So I’m moving onto 2k3 from MV. For some this won’t matter much, but others might be a bit curious to why I’ve decided to do that.
First of all, Summer Sucks isn’t a game that’s going to require intensive amounts of work in javascript, the biggest slowdown MV had for me was stopping my progress and finding a specific type of plugin that would remedy a problem that 2K3 had a hardwired fix in already, and hardly use the plugin to it’s full potential.
My other reason being the game would be better presented running in something I’ve got more than 5 years worth of experience in, Summer Sucks being a very close project of mine I’d only be happy if I know I’m doing all I can do.
This is not to say MV is bad, MV is a good engine I’d love to do more experiments in but Summer Sucks is not an experiment, I know exactly what I should be doing with Summer Sucks and MV with it’s many potentials, 2K3 I’d be doing better executing what I’ve had in mind for the game.
TL;DR: The game might look different from here on out, changes in development happen all the time and I want what is best. Things are A-OKAY.
Anyway, that’s all for now. I’ll keep everyone updated on progress when it is time to dive back in!
